Ice is finally forming on lakes in southern Michigan and anglers will find everything they need for a successful ice fishing trip at the Ultimate Fishing Show–Detroit’s Ice Fishing Extravaganza and Shanty Truck Load Sale.
This year’s Ultimate Fishing Show–Detroit will once again feature an Ice Fishing Extravaganza, a collection of more ice fishing gear and seminars than any other show in Michigan.
Manufacturer representatives from Clam, Shappell, Otter Outdoors, Frabill, Eskimo, Normark, Marcum, Strikemaster, and many more have committed to attend. Multiple retailers, including Frank’s Great Outdoors, K & E Stopper Lures and PikeSpearing.com, will be present at the Ultimate Fishing Show–Detroit with truckloads of ice fishing tackle and gear.
“Ice fishing is a very popular winter activity in Michigan and anglers will be able to find everything they need to hit the ice right here at the Ultimate Fishing Show-Detroit,” Show Manager Ben Nielsen said. “We’ll have tons of ice fishing gear which will be on display and for sale. Frank’s Great Outdoors will hold a shanty truckload sale in conjunction with the Ultimate Fishing Show, and our lineup of ice fishing seminars is second to none.”
Brian “Bro” Brosdahl of Max, MN is one of the most recognized and respected anglers in North America. Bro, as he’s known, is a multi-species angler best known for his influence on the sport of ice fishing. Several popular ice fishing products are based on his ideas. Bro’s appearance is brought to the Fishing Show by Frabill and Frank’s Great Outdoors.
Jake Romanack has had the good fortune of growing up in the fishing industry. The son of Outdoor Writer and Fishing 411 TV Host Mark Romanack, Jake has spent countless hours fishing with his Dad, fishing with industry insiders and also working as a first mate on the back of Michigan’s top charter boats. With chartering experience on both Lake Erie and Lake Michigan, Jake recently became one of the youngest individuals in Michigan to become a licensed charter captain at the age of 17. Jake plans to start a charter business on Lake Erie and Lake Michigan this summer.
Currently at Fox Valley Technical College, studying business administration, Jake’s long term goals are to secure a business degree, build a charter fishing clientele and to continue working with his Dad at Fishing 411 TV. Jake’s biggest goal however is to help other anglers become more successful on the water.
Joining Brosdahl and Romanack are recent Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame inductee Mark Martin (walleye), Mark Romanack (walleye), Marianne Huskey (walleye), Wayne Carpenter (bass), Chris Noffsinger (bass), Mike Schultz (fly fishing), Chip Cartwright (walleye and salmon), Kyle Buck (salmon and steelhead) and Dan Armitage (kid’s fishing), among others.
“We’ve assembled the best, most diversified, lineup of seminar speakers ever to appear in Michigan,” said Nielsen. “Whether you fish for salmon and steelhead, bass, walleye, panfish, muskie, fish in open water or hard water, there is a seminar tailored specifically for you.”
The ultimate combination of new and returning features and speakers is happening at the Ultimate Fishing Show–Detroit at Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Avenue in Novi, January 8 to 11. We hope you can make it over to Novi.
Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for children 6 to 14. There is no charge for children 5 and under. Parking is $5 for on-site parking.
Show hours are 3 to 9:30, Thursday; 11 to 9:30, Friday; 10 to 9, Saturday; 10 to 5, Sunday.
