When deciding to get into competitive ice fishing, you have to have some of the best gear to make sure you don’t miss the slightest bite. That’s where K&E Tackle’s Whip’r Rods come in. With a super sensitive tip made from quality blanks and a high end genuine cork reel seat, the Whip’r rod comes in a variety of sizes from 24″ to 48″ lengths.

I prefer to sight fish for bluegill and crappie, so I have the 24″ Whip’r rod paired up with the Whip’r 1000 reel. It has a 5.1:1 gear ratio, anti-reverse, and you can switch the handle for left or right-handed.

Those are the specifics, now for my two cents… The handle felt a little long when I first held it, but has became quite comfortable really quick. There’s plenty of backbone down the blank, but with the super fast tip, there was no way for even these little guys to fool me.

For you tight-liners out there comes the new Skandia Noodle Rod. This guy comes with an electric blue clear blank and neon green thread wrap. Cork handle and a quality seat to hold your reel. Eyes are hand-wound with epoxy coating. Available in lengths from 24″-60″.

In my haste to get out fishing I put a spinning reel on it. The rod has great action, but for tightlining I would rather have a fly-style reel on it myself. But another great rod that was able to detect the slightest bite of even the smallest fish.
